Dr. Kavita Mathu-Muju

Kavita Mathu-Muju, DDM, MPH, Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry, FRCD(C) began practising at Mid-Main in the fall of 2018.

Dr. Mathu-Muju graduated from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Manitoba in 1993. Following graduation, she practiced as a general dentist for the First Nations and Inuit Health Branch, Manitoba Region and travelled to Northern health centres and school-based dental clinics. Caring for children in remote communities was motivation to further her education in dentistry for children at the University of North Carolina, where she earned a Certificate in Pediatric Dentistry from the School of Dentistry and a Master’s degree in Public Health from the School of Public Health in 2006. She feels privileged to practice at Mid-Main Dental Clinic because of Mid-Main Community Health Centre’s commitment to provide optimum care for high needs and high risk families.

Dr. Karina Romero

Dr. Karina Romero received her Doctor of Dental Surgeon Degree (DDS) in 2004 from Federico Villarreal University, Lima - Peru. She started her dentistry career in Peru working as a general dentist in a private clinic and participated in a dentistry program servicing patients in remote areas of the highlands of Peru who would otherwise would not have access to dental care. 

Dr. Romero recognized the importance of prevention and promotion of oral health early on in her career and expanded her education by obtaining a Master’s degree of Public Health from the Royal Tropical Institute, Amsterdam-The Netherlands in 2008. She attended this university on a full scholarship awarded to her based on her academic standing.  As part of her Masters Degree she published a thesis related to oral health.

Dr. Romero obtained her certification to practice as a General dentist in Canada in 2020 and is constantly continuing her education in Dentistry. Her current focus is preventive and restorative dentistry. She is fluent in English and Spanish.

 

Dr. Keenman Feng

Dr. Feng is originally from Hong Kong but grew up in Vancouver.  He graduated from UBC Dental school and practised in Calgary and Surrey. The best part of dentistry is building relationships over the years and watching families grow., They are bringing their kids, grandkids and now, great grand kids. When Dr. Feng is not working, he is off taking continuing education in different parts of the world, to enhance his knowledge in dentistry.  He appreciates the fact that this community holds so much diversity and says that it's a blessing for him to meet the community members and learn from them.

Dr. Chanhee Park

Dr. Chanhee Park studied at the University of Toronto for her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree. She graduated with the Harold Keith Box Prize – Silver Medal for outstanding performance in clinical Periodontics. She values patient centered care, in order to help patients improve their oral health and gain confidence. She is always looking to broaden her knowledge and skills by taking continuing education courses. Outside of the dental office, she enjoys running, hiking, and dog-sitting. 

 

Dr. Yi Fan (Ivy) Hsu

Graduated in 2014 from CEU Cardinal Herrera University in Spain. Fluent in Mandarin, and English, her multilingual proficiency ensures effective communication and rapport-building with patients of diverse backgrounds.

Driven by a relentless pursuit of excellence, Dr. Ivy Hsu expanded her professional horizons by obtaining a dentistry licence in Taiwan. She spent a year at Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, a renowned institution, where she gained invaluable experience in all aspects of dentistry further enriching her expertise.

Within the realm of dentistry, Dr. Ivy Hsu has developed a distinct passion for root canal therapy, and crowns. Her commitment to these areas is reflected not only in her exemplary results but also in the smiles of our satisfied patients.

Outside of her professional pursuits, Dr. Ivy Hsu finds joy in various outdoor activities. She is an avid free diver, an intrepid hiker, and an enthusiastic participant in social dancing. 

Dr. Nafisa Pirbhai

Dr. Nafisa Pirbhai grew up in Calgary, Alberta and obtained her Bachelor of Life Sciences Degree from UBC before attending the University of Alberta Dental Program. She moved back to the Lower Mainland after receiving her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 2019.

Dr. Pirbhai’s interest in public health dentistry was sparked when, during her time at graduate school, she was involved in providing dental treatment to low-income populations within Edmonton on weekends. She later travelled to Nicaragua on a dental volunteer trip to provide care to vulnerable populations.

Dr. Pirbhai is a caring and compassionate dental professional. Her goal is to make all patients feel comfortable while receiving high-quality dentistry.

In her spare time, she enjoys hiking, baking, and taking her Australian Shepherd, Juno, out for hikes and runs.

 

Dr. Verena Lam

Dr. Verena Lam graduated with honours from McGill Dentistry after obtaining her Bachelor of Science in biochemistry from the University of Western Ontario. Having grown up in Ontario, she has practiced dentistry in Ontario and Alberta before settling into British Columbia. Dr. Lam is a general dentist with a special interest in cosmetic and pediatric dentistry. She is also sessional clinical instructor at UBC after having taught dental assistants at SAIT in Calgary for 5 years. She is a member of the Canadian Dental Association and the British Columbia Dental Society. When she’s not at work, she enjoys spending time with her two children and can be found hiking or biking.

Dental Hygienists

Kayla Ragosin Miller

Kayla Ragosin Miller joined Mid-Main’s hygiene team in 2018. Kayla has been in practice since 1998, having graduated from the University of Manitoba. Kayla is passionate about working with the Developmentally Disabled population. After working at BC Children’s Hospital for the past 12 years she has seen first hand how this clientele does not have good dental representation. In response to this, she has developed the Dental Intervention Program to help those on the Autism Spectrum accept dental visits with ease. She has carried this program to Mid Main allowing this group to have a dental home. She also promotes education through conferences, Universities and study groups to teach all professionals how to work positively with this population of special smiles.

Jessica Newman

Jessica has been part of the team at Mid-Main since August 2017, but has been practicing in the last 15 years in the field of dentistry. She began her career as a Certified Dental Assistant and graduated from the Dental Hygiene program at Vancouver Community College in the summer of 2017. She has a passion for dental education and believes that equipping patients with tools to enhance their dental IQ will increase and benefit home oral care.

Ashley Vicente

A compassionate, skillful dental hygiene practitioner who enjoys providing holistic care to help individuals achieve optimal oral and overall health. Ashley’s philosophy to approach any problem is to reach out with empathy and curiosity, which begets trust and openness from patients.

Out of scrubs, Ashley follows a French lifestyle full of reading, creating art and music, and finding the perfect croissant. 

Cori Davidson

Cori is a dedicated dental hygienist with a passion for oral health. She takes pride in providing personalized, preventive care. A graduate of Vancouver Community College, she is committed to making every dental visit a comfortable and positive experience. When she's not cleaning teeth she is usually enjoying the outdoors with her dog, Nellie.
